Matthias Warnung grew up in a traditional, small family-owned winery. However, after spending time in vineyards around the world, his passion for producing natural wines grew. Winemakers Craig Hawkins of Lammershoek and Tom Lubbe of Matassa speak to the truth and passion of Matthias. Basis Red is a blend of three different young Zweigelt vineyards. Fermenting as whole bunches results in a semi-carbonic fermentation in 60-year-old 3500-liter barrels. The wine shows aromas of blueberry, raspberry, spice, and smoky notes with a light and harmonious finish.
